NAMPA, Idaho (KBOI) - Boise High School, Kuna High School, Walmart, Kohl's, and Skyview High School in Nampa were all hit with phony bomb threats on Thursday. That is a sizable number of your police force taken away from their regular duties to respond to a series of hoaxes."We take as many people as we can and send them towards the thing and the only things we respond to besides that incident are things that are involving people's safety," says Sgt. Mike Wagoner with the Nampa Police Department.
If you had a non-life-threatening emergency in Nampa on Thursday, say your car was being stolen, it had to wait, because much of the police force was checking out a bomb threat at Skyview High School.
Fortunately Nampa Police only had to operate like this for 40 minutes, but in that time three calls came in which they could not respond to right away.
In his 25 years as a police officer Sgt.Wagoner says he has never seen this many bomb threats hit so many different police departments in the same day. He says whoever made those calls has upset just about every officer in southwest Idaho.
"If we're able to figure out who this was that was involved, I guarantee you they will be held for justice," says Wagoner.
The Nampa Police force is working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to find the person or people who made the calls.
