The Presidents Cup is underway and Team America has dominated the proceedings from Day 1 of the tournament. The Presidents Cup takes place between the USA and International golfers (excluding Europe). Both send their individual selected team players to face off in the event.
Earlier this week the matchup for the Presidents’ Cup was revealed. It featured Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth facing the duo of Sungjae Im and Corey Conners.

Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth are best friends on and off the pitch
Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth friendship is one of the most famous ones in the golfing world and it was seen on the golf course on Friday. The duo helped each other out during tough situations. It all started from par-3 fourth when Thomas hit his tee shot on the 168-yard hole about 125 yards. The fellow American helped him out with a pitch to inside three feet.
As the day proceeded, Thomas returned the favor on the 15th. The “best friends” on and off the pitch went on to defeat Sungjae Im and Corey Conners 2 and 1 as the US jumped to a 4-1 lead after the first day.
After the day’s play, Spieth hailed his partnership and friendship with JT, saying that he love to play with him during these team events. “He’s my best friend in the whole world. There is nothing more fun than these team events, playing alongside JT,” said the 29-year-old golfer.
“Oh, it was a big grind. I mean, you know, we played a really, really good team, a team that hits a lot of fairways, a lot of quality shots. I hit some unbelievably questionable shots, and I think that’s why we make such a great team. We can salvage when we don’t have our best stuff on a day like today.”
Talking more about the friendship between Thomas and Spieth – the duo knows each other since they were teens and have chased their golfing dreams together. Both the golfers have pushed each other to limits to improve their games and despite being professional rivals – their friendship has only become stronger and stronger.
Taking about the same earlier in the year Thomas revealed we both love to compete and because of that we tend to push each other more and more.
“I think we’ve kind of pushed each other at every level,…mean, we’re always competing, whether it was, you know, we want to be the top of the Rolex Rankings in junior golf when we’re 15 or 16; we want to be the low junior golfer at the U.S. Amateur; we want to make the cut as an amateur in a tour event; we want to win college player of the year and we want to lead our team’s scoring average. It’s just now we’re at the top level you can get.”
“I feel like we’re a very similar caliber of player, and I just got a couple of years of experience head start,…You want to get yourself in those positions, and you learn a lot from wins and losses.”
