Vanessa Demopoulos is known for being one of the most energetic and enthusiastic fighters in the new generation of UFC women’s roster. The American made her UFC debut and UFC Vegas 35 last year and failed to win the first bout. After losing her debut fight, Demopoulos bounced back and is currently on a two fight win streak.
In her last fight, Demopoulos fought Jinh Yu Frey at UFC Fight Night: Tsarukyan vs. Gamrot and won the fight via split decision. Demopoulod is extremely funky and likes to joke around a lot. Her post fight celebrations of jumping over to the laps of the UFC presenters after the fight has put her into the limelight.
At UFC 270, after winning the bout against Silvana Gómez Juárez, Demopoulos freaked out while talking to Joe Rogan in the post fight interview. She then jumped into Rogan’s lap. Later she did the same to Michael Bisping which was equally entertaining.
Vanessa Demopoulos shares her honorable moment of sparring against top sumo wrestlers
Demopoulos recently thought of doing something rather interesting and taking on someone who is much more heavier and bigger than her. ‘Lil monster’ recently shared a clip of her taking on legendary sumo wrestler, Ramy Elgazar. In what looks like a random sparring session, Demopoulos can be seen all geared up for a sumo bout against the Egyptian.
However, as many have expected it didn’t end well for the fighter. As she charged forward to make her initial move, Demopoulos was lifted up by Elgazar and was brutally thrown on the mat.
In the caption of the post the fighter jokingly mentioned that she had no upper hand against the wrestler but it was fun. Demopoulos mentioned that it was an adventurous experience and was proud to share a sparring session with professional sumo wrestlers.
“SUMOOO ” Size doesn’t mattter” famous last words I was no match for @ramyelgazar1. WHAT AN ADVENTURE….It was an honor to wrestle World Class Professional Sumo Wrestlers.
Sumo wrestlers can weigh around 400 pounds and have the strength and power to take on much bigger opponents. Even if the sparring was a playful act, there is no way any UFC fighter will be able to take on a professional sumo wrestler that easily.
